The Patriot Act Rescission Bill of 2007

The USA Patriot Act has infringed on our basic civil rights while doing little to protect us from terrorists.    (If the goal of the government was to protect us from terrorists, the border would have been closed in 2001.)     Congress did not study or debate this bill before passage, it was passed as a hysterical effort to "do something" in the week after 9/11.    There is a huge groundswell of public opinion against this federal power grab.      A combination of over 400 states, counties and communities have passed resolutions condemning the Patriot Act.     See the Bill of Rights Defense Committee at: http://www.bordc.org/index.php

The Independent American Party's solution to this problem is to send the Patriot Act back to Congress and have them try again.    Write your Senators and Representative asking them to sponsor  "The Patriot Act Rescission Bill of 2007".   You may wish to use the cover letter that is available on the link at the top of this section.   Please include a copy of the bill when writing.
